Physician Assistant to:
C. Brian Blackwood, MD

Cheryl Blackwood was born and raised in Spokane, WA. She became interested in orthopedics after a soccer injury resulted in an ACL reconstructive surgery and a summer internship with the orthopedic surgeon. While a graduate student, Cheryl received a National Science Foundation GK-12 Fellowship to design, teach, and incorporate new science and math curriculum into local Fort Collins high schools.

Cheryl decided basic science research wasn’t her passion, so she moved to Denver to attend the physician assistant program at the University of Colorado Denver. Cheryl graduated with a master's degree in physician assistant studies in May 2013. She is certified by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants. She began her work at Mapleton Hill Orthopaedics, which is now BoulderCentre for Orthopedics & Spine.
