“I found Dr. Leland to be very clear with the options before me and the likely outcomes. I had a 25 year old injury that had deteriorated to cause me pain in daily life. All of the options were palatable but I felt that one would leave me new and improved so I went for it. My outcome is really great, although not perfect, which is exactly what he outlined. The pain during recovery was extraordinarily minimal due to a nerve blocking procedure that he suggested and I am SO happy I opted for this. Dr. Leland and his staff answered all of my questions thoroughly, and were pleasant, prompt, and professional and took the time I needed to get my questions answered. It all led me to make a great decision with zero pressure and I have total confidence in the team that got me there!”

“Foremost, allow me to apologize to Dr. Conyers for not thanking him in person, my life has been in constant motion for the last few years but I've been meaning to stop by his office and express my gratitude for a successful operation. Choosing a doctor for a major operation is always scary, obviously you want to get it right the first time, the consequences are high and you have limited information, it's almost a gut decision. I can't remember all of the technical nomenclature but basically the end of my left radius, where it circles your wrist join was broken backwards, and they needed to cut my radius, push the end forward and fill the gap with a bone graph and then stabilize it with a plate and screws. Fun stuff. Dr. Conyers has a wealth of experience, and great reputation to boot, but what was most reassuring was his easy going personality, friendliness and clear communication. Sure, that doesn't necessarily translate to being a good surgeon but it kept me at ease. Plus, I figure it's always better going to happy doctor than an unhappy one. Everyone at the office for that matter was friendly, from the nurse to the receptionist, I enjoyed the small talk and banter. Anyways, onto the meet and potatoes, I consider the surgery a complete success, I have 98% original flexibility, and 100% strength. I have no side affects while climbing, weight lifting, or any other activities. Three years later, I get the typical stiffness during cold weather, and sometimes I can feel/hear a tendon rub on the plate, but those are minimal things, I can always get the plate removed. Oh, there's still a scar, but I kind of dig it, adds character. There was some adversity during the recovery, the bone graph took longer to heal then expected, and required an extra month in the cast, about 4 months in a cast and then another two months before I could climb or do any serious activities. I certainly don't blame Dr. Conyers for that, and even though I was frustrated he clearly showed me on the x-rays what was going on, how much of the bone was filled in and why the extra recovery was necessary. Today, I'm climbing and lifting harder than I ever have, the injury does not limit me in any way and the operation is drifting into a distant memory. Thank you Dr. Conyers, I couldn't be happier with the outcome and I promise next time I'm in Colorado I'll stop by the office and thank you in person.”
