My Comeback Story: Arthur S.
My knees have been in rough shape for several years, due to damage from running, weight training, and osteoarthritis. I stopped running due to bone-on-bone pain, and workouts were becoming more painful. Osteoarthritis does run in my family, which doesn't help. I had considered knee replacement due to aggravating the injury to the knee and advanced osteoarthritis, and selected Dr. Dirk Dolbeare after talking with prior clients. In 2025, I had the outpatient surgery at the Broomfield location. Dr. Dolbeare and his entire surgical team are first-class in all respects, kind of like the line in M*A*S*H, "best care anywhere". Dr. Dolbeare recommended the Stryker "Triathlete" device since I wanted to return to an active lifestyle. The surgery went smoothly, but I did need general anesthesia instead of the spinal; there were no issues with reactions to the anesthesia. I found a very good Physical Therapist who worked with me to set up a therapy plan focusing on my recovery from the surgery and my desire to return to workouts and outdoor activities. Functionality has returned very well, and I have received compliments from others, including a physical therapist who works out with us, on how well the functionality has returned and how good the knee looks post-surgery. I plan to have my right knee replaced in 2026 due to osteoarthritis and a damaged ACL, and I will be setting an appointment with Dr. Dolbeare after concluding some travel. I have also recommended Dr. Dolbeare to other persons looking for an orthopedic surgeon.
