I am a triathlete, hiker, and trail runner. I started having issues with my left knee and saw Dr. Brian Davis for a series of injections that worked for a while. But after attempting a trail half-marathon in BV, I was only able to accomplish 6 miles before the pain stopped me. So Dr. Davis referred me to Dr. Holzmeister. I initially had planned on a meniscectomy, but after some consideration, I decided on a full knee replacement. My thought was that I would likely have to return eventually for a total knee replacement, so why not do it now while I was young and healthy? And it turned out to be the right decision because during surgery, there was more damage than what was seen on the MRI. I am only 3 months out, but I can feel the strength returning and have been able to do some mild hiking, and am looking forward to returning to the trails to run with my Trail Sisters.
