“By the time I met Dr. Blackwood both of my knees were in terrible shape, primarily from years of playing basketball resulting in multiple surgeries. I had both knees replaced by Dr. Blackwood, one at a time.. One big motivation was my work as a volunteer ranger in the Indian Peaks Wilderness Area -- the prior fall I could only hike 1-2 miles before knee aches and pains became too much to bear. Following my surgeries, I did a huge amount of physical therapy. AT age 66 I was back to hiking in the Indian Peaks and in Rocky Mountain National Park, wrapping up the hiking season in October with a 7-mile hike that had a 1,000 foot elevation gain. In recent months I returned to doing yoga, something I had been practicing for more than 10 years. My physical therapist told me that he had worked with a number of Dr, Blackwood's patients over the years and was impressed with his handiwork. Bottom line? I am happy Dr. Blackwood took me on as a patient, and am very happy with the results.”

The best part was that Boulder Centre for Orthopedics was able to get me in within 45 minutes of my injury, offered a very fair discount for self-pay (my family lost our individual insurance as a result of Obamacare), cleaned my wound, took x-rays, and splinted my hand. I expected Dr. Masterto want to do surgery--because that is what surgeons do. But he recommended an extended period of healing, which has proven to be working in my case.”
